Me time = on the Switch playing Nintendo games

Whats the rarest game you own?

Overall? Probably SMRPG. On my Switch...hrm...ring fit adventure if you go with 'quantity of stock'

But if you wanna talk about what's an unusual game I bought for Switch that not a lot of people have tried...well I don't think most people have played Kamiko, and that's fun for $3. I bought LIttle Town Hero, which everybody knew would suck. Paid $25 for it and...it sucks. And I beat Tokyo Mirage Sessions, which I don't think most people played.

I skipped this one for the time being. It didn't interest me a whole lot, even as a fan of Pokemon. It was around the time that I was focused on Animal Crossing coming out, and I think was playing something else too. I forget what, though.

I didnt pay full price for it personally, but Im pretty sure I got a full priced games amount of time out of it. (unfortunately I left my cartridge at my apartment when I came back to stay with my mom during the virus times, so I cant check exactly how long I played) I get the suspicion of its value, I had the same doubts, but its got enough polish and production value that I can believe they gave it a major titles budget.

The thing that I love about it is that its like playing the game for an anime that doesnt exist. It has fully anime cutscenes and a ridiculous story that takes the sushi striking totally seriously. Its like if the people making Yu-Gi-Oh were aware of how silly Yu-Gi-Oh is and really leaned into it. The phrase sushi heresy is used at one point.

and the core gameplay is fun. Its been a while since I played so I dont remember super clearly, but I think they found enough variations on it within the game to keep it entertaining all the way through.

I would say definitely dont actually spend $50 on it at this point, but its on sale for like $13 on Amazon right now. Its worth that for sure.

This post is tempting. I may add it to my list. I like 'ridiculous anime'

Not gonna ask about specific games but a more general question.

What are the must have switch exclusives?

Well, this varies from person to person, and obviously you know what you want better than anyone else. So the way that I'm going to answer this question is as if you asked me, "Hey SteveNick, if YOU could only personally have 5 Switch games, assuming you'd never played any, which 5 would you pick?"

And here's my 5:

  1. Breath of the Wild
  2. Super Mario Odyssey
  3. Smash Ultimate
  4. Fire Emblem Three Houses
  5. Super Mario Maker 2

I debated over this list for a bit because there's some that you really NEED as a Switch owner. Like Mario Kart isn't really optional, but I don't have any of those 5 I can replace it with. Splatoon 2 and Animal Crossing would be tough to do without as well. But that's my top 5!

Mario Rabbids

Funny story about this one. I bought it years ago for half-price, in 2018. I originally didn't care much for it. I found the combat tedious and bland. Didn't like how 'simple' everything was and it just wasn't interesting to me. I hated the constant puzzles that I had to do between levels, too.

Tried it again a couple weeks ago(I'm actually currently in a playthrough right now, on world 4), and I'm really liking it, and quite hooked on it. I must've just really not been in the right state of mind for it the first time. I've just taken a casual approach to it this time, playing through the levels and having fun with it. Luigi with a sniper is badass.

I was an original adopter when it first came out, and while I'm a big fan of Civ, Civ 6 was a disappointment due to all the flawed game systems where nothing was balanced. And poor AI behavior, etc.

How are things in the current state of the game? Should I update my copy and try again?

It's really up to the employer. If they have a lot of applications, it's a way to easily narrow the field to get to the most desirable candidates.

Companies that don't drug screen often end up having to fire drug addicts in their first month or two of employment anyways.

Beat SMW. The last couple of worlds had some tough levels. I beat the final boss in one try though.

Overall, it was a fun game. A little shorter than most people generally want a game(even a platformer) to be in the modern day, but good nonetheless. The first half was pretty easy then the second half ramped it up for some interesting gameplay and mechanics.

I did 50 exits, and I'll probably keep going to see how many more I can get.

Castle 6 was pretty tough(those battering ram obstacles that kill you all the way from super mario to dead in one hit were rough)

But Wendy was even easier than the guy in castle 3(they have the same boss fight with minor variations). Her pipes were all level with each other, and even though there were 2 fireballs instead of 1, there was more space and easier terrain to dodge them.

Will be some small, casual spoilers dropped in here. I'll mark anything big.

Started with Super Mario World. Seems like the game is progressing pretty fast so far. I've only played a few hours since yesterday and I'm closing in on Castle number 6.

So far, the game started off very easy(first and second boss were a joke), but things got harder around the 3rd castle(that boss was pretty hard), and the 5th castle was legit challenging(one where you have to ride a snake block the whole way through with no power ups or anything)

I've noticed the game relies a lot on puzzles for secret exits and such, which I'm not used to seeing in games like this. I've also noticed that I can't find ANY fake or hidden blocks in this game. It seems those were replaced in this incarnation by the red/green/blue blocks.

So far the game has been super fun. A little boring at the start, but after about halfway through, it starts to get fun and challenging with the level design. I'm kinda just cruising through without worrying too much about what I'm missing, but I'll probably go back and try to find some more hidden stuff.

I like how the ghost houses are all super short with like 1 puzzle to figure out in them. That's cool

Anyone else played this game recently?

I had done -so- much stuff before finally beating this quest.

Apparently that was basically an intro/tutorial quest that had like a dozen follow-up quests to it to teach you how to do things.

But I never raised all my friendship levels to 1, then got gated behind certain NPCs that only appear once a week, so it took me forever to complete that quest. Now I'm backlogged behind tons of tutorial quests that I'm taking 3 a day. On the bright side, I am kind of learning how to use various things now.
